Using a Series 2 with a Mini

I have an old Series 2 in the same room with a Mini and a HDTV, normally I don't have the Series 2 power up, but just for kicks I connected the Series 2 (Humax DVD model) to the Composite output of the Mini, connected up the IR cable to the Series 2, went to the connection part of the series 2 and TiVo is now an option as a cable box, but the IR would not control the Mini, so does the MSO TiVo use a different set of IR codes ? This is something I don't need to do but just doing an experiment to see if it worked. I did get the floating HDMI error on the TV but don't care about that unless I could get the S2 to control the Mini.
