For limited cable, is it better to use favorites or deselect channels?

I have a TiVo Roamio that I'm using with a Comcast Internet Plus plan (local channels plus HBO). I want to set the guide to only show the channels I have access to. Instead of turning off hundreds of channels, I could just mark the ones I do have as favorites and set the guide to show only those.

My question is: is there any benefit to deselecting all those channels instead of going the favorites route? Would it help remove shows I can't see out of the Discovery bar or have any other benefit?
