Considering Return to Tivo

In years past, I owned and absolutely loved my TIVO. When HD tv came about, my ex stated that I would no longer be able to watch my shows in a room different than the one I recorded the show in if we stayed with TIVO, so we switched to our cable provider's DVR service.

Reading on the forums, that no longer appears to be a problem, and I am really tired of all of the issues with the cable DVR (losing season passes, not showing ALL recorded content on all TV's, lost sound) - plus I MISS TIVO. I have read what's on TIVO's website, but I want to make sure I really understand what I will be getting in functionality.

If I get the Roamio Plus or Pro, will I be able to watch my recorded content in a separate room without anything else - or will I need a Mini or a Stream?

I have an Android tablet, iPhone, Windows laptop & Mac - how do I watch content on those? Do I have to download it - or can I stream it over my own network somehow?

I can watch and record 6 shows at once - with only one device - or will I need more? I often record 3 shows at once, and sometimes 4 ... so this is something I will take advantage of.

What all, besides the DVR service, can I cancel with cable after I make the switch? I know I'll have to pay for cable cards (how many) ?

Lastly - and maybe this is politically incorrect - but does TIVO have a future - or is it going to cable-provided DVRs only?

I'm sorry if I posted questions answered elsewhere - but I didn't see them when I looked. All of the FAQ's and "new" FAQ's seemed quite dated by now.

Thanks!
