Hello all, I'd love your thoughts on the issues we are having with our Premiere:
About 2 weeks ago it we had an hour long show whose file seemed to be corrupted. We were able to watch the first 15 minutes, but past that point, we couldn't get the file to move foward, we were always brought back to the start of the show. We chalked it up to a bad sector on the HD, and hoped that the TIVO would recognize that and skip that sector in the future.
This past weekend A wish list item that I had made sure was going to record in the to do list recorded, but them immediately was deleted. We had about 40% of our 75 hours of space left, so I was suspicious, but Sunday WAS a busy day for the Tivo. I was pretty annoyed, but just assumed that space was tight at that time.
So, a couple of days later we see that numerous shows on Sunday, and Monday did the same thing, recorded, and then deleted immediately. We were now at a point where 60% of the space was free, and there wasn't much being recorded. To top it off, other shows that had been on the Tivo for weeks were being deleted as well.
I'm assuming that one of these items is the culprit: A: HD is dying fast, and I need to replace it, B) Tivo is recognizing that large chunks of the HD are dead, and we really only have about 50% of the HD space functional for use. C) Tivo itself is dying.
If it is A or B, I can easily get a new HD off of weaknees. It's an annoyance, but I wanted to upgrade our HD size soon anyway. But how do I figure out if the system itself is ok before I spend $200 on it?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
