Falling Skies - Season 4 thread (Spoilers)

Since episode threads for this season have developed very little traction (no thread was even started for last week's episode, and the previous week had very few posts), I'll go ahead and start a season 4 thread.

I said earlier on that the show had earned enough goodwill in my mind to give it some latitude. I think the show has more than used up that latitude. I am still watching, but this does not feel like the same show at all. They've totally changed the Volm (Cochise aside), the Espheni... pretty much everything. It feels like an almost totally different show that happens to have some of the same characters.

I think the final straw for me was tonight's (7/13) episode. Things I have particularly disliked:

- Pope's character has been noticeably changed. Previously, Pope would only have been a team player when the team's goals happened to intersect with his, or when he was otherwise coerced to chip in. Being self-serving enough to put himself at risk last week (to climb over the electric fence) and this week (to strike out to get the much needed fuel) seems way out of character for him.

- Transforming, then killing off, Jeannie.

- The portrayal of the Espheni seems totally off. They have never been "scheming" like they are now, but instead depended more on military power. The whole weird communication method at the end of tonight's episode seemed particularly off, and the sudden introduction of a Hitler Youth like reeducation camp seemed way out of left field for them.

- The whole Lexi part of the storyline.

- Basically disappearing the Volm with the exception of Cochise and his small team, nearly completely dropping what seemed like a promising plot line started at the end of last season.

I'm continuing to watch, if only because there's not much else on Sunday nights... but it's really not a particularly good series anymore. Whomever they have either writing scripts or running the show now needs to go, and they need to bring back the previous people.
