Bolt 500mb - sounds like an electrical transformer ready to blow

Just received my lovely new Bolt 500mb via the Lifetime transfer promotion. Removed the Premiere from it's place in the bedroom in the noisy afternoon and inserted the Bolt in its place.
Went in late at night, and my eyes directly followed the sound to the new Bolt, which sounded like an electric pole transformer, whining away with a little "grrrrr". It's likely the hard drive, since there's no apparent fan.
Is it possible, to rush out all the orders from the promotion, they threw in some...
