And so, am in the process of copying over a bunch of older, saved shows from a Series 2 TiVo directly to a more, um, "modern" TiVo box (sorry there, old guy). Had copied some over, and all was proceeding well enough, albeit glacially and with TiVo's irritating habit of de-folderizing some--but not all--series shows, originally in their own series folders on the Series 2, as TiVo originally had stored them. But hey, TiVo never has been known for its consistency.
