Charter in St. Louis

After reading on the forums about all the problems with TiVo & Charter I was really nervous about buying a TiVo. I decided to just go through with it and see what happened (that's what return policies are for!).

I purchased my TiVo from Best Buy on Saturday. My boyfriend is the account holder for Charter, so I had to wait until he was off of work to go get the cable card and TA from them. We went this morning to grab them. It was kind of funny, I think the lady at Charter was a little confused, because she told me that with the cable card and TiVo that I wouldn't be able to record anything. I think she meant that I won't be able to access VOD- but I digress.

I got home and was finally able to open the new toy that has been sitting on my living room floor for a few days!! Gave Charter a call and paired the cable card. Piece of cake. I went to hook up the TA. Uh-oh. I figured this is where the bad luck begins. They didn't give me the USB-A cord for the TA. I went to Best Buy to grab a cord. I work for Best Buy so what I paid for the usb cord was worth more than going back to Charter and trying to get one.

I got home, held my breath and plugged in the TA to the TiVo.

It worked. I couldn't believe it. I was expecting to have to call Charter at least 3 more times, but I'm online with no issues now! Everything is working great!

I just wanted to share a positive story with people like me who may be nervous to dive into the TiVo pool.

tl;dr Was nervous about getting a TiVo after reading horror stories, but Charter activated it with no problems.
