Simulate inter-Tivo communication protocol?

Is there any way to simulate a Tivo attempting to download a paused show? Or is the protocol used between tivos unknown/not understood?



Secondly, does the model of tivo #2 in the above procedure matter? Can it be another series 4 or newer tivo? or is it restricted to old models?
