Problems with new hardrive in Tivo Roamio

So, Ive had my Roamio for about a year or so now and recently moved last month. Anyways, after setting it up at my new place it took a long time on the "Welcome starting..." page and when it finally went through it the main menu looked a little glitchy(a few options out of place) and unresponsive to the remote control despite the yellow light lighting up on the remote and unit itself. So I called Tivo support and they concluded that I most likely had a dead drive.

After looking online about the problem Ive read that its a rather easy problem to fix in the Roamio model. Simply install a new hardrive and the unit formats and installs the Tivo software on it automatically. I went to the store and bought a Western Digital Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s drive.

I installed it just fine and hooked it up. It took an exceptionally longtime stuck on the same "Welcome starting..." page (which I read to slightly expect with a new HD install), after finally getting through that I get to the Country selection page thinking its finally fixed. I use the remote and it works although the menu seems to be very laggy and takes a few seconds to respond to commands. I figure to go through it anyway that it probably just needs an update after i set it up. That's when a few pages later it goes blank for a second and sends me back to the Welcome screen.

Perplexed I took the hardrive out and installed it into my computer to see if it was a bad drive. I ran the Western Digital Data Diagnostics tool on it and it came back fine on the quick test and extended test. So I zeroed it out just to make sure it was clear.

I reinstalled it and am having the same problem.

Any ideas?

Should I format it on my PC first then install it?

Id hate to have to buy a new unit and would be a little hesitant especially since money is rather tight considering the recent move.

I followed what another post said but haven't had any luck with it so far.

Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!
