Want to get a nerdy discussion going on transfer rates. Here's some data I have to start.
Using cTivo on my Mac with video format set to Decrypted Tivo Show. I downloaded a 6.37 Gigabyte 1 hour, HD TV show. According to my Tivo Roamio under:
Settings>Network>ViewNetworkDiagnostics>ViewTransferHistory> VideosCopiedToRemoteDevice
Throughput was 69.62 Mb/s and took 12 min 11 sec to transfer the 6.37 GB file.
On my iPad, the file size for same show at best quality is 1.11 GB and will take over an hour.
Why can I transfer a file 6 times the size to cTivo in 12 minutes with absolutely no disconnects but it takes over an hour for iPad app and will likely disconnect several times requiring me to restart it?
Both my 2010 MacBook Pro and My iPad4 are on same N Network. Experiment was done on the 5 GHZ connection band.
