Tuning Adapter Kills TiVos?

I'm pretty well convinced that the stupid Time Warner tuning adapter has killed three of my TiVos, or at least HDMI and analog outputs. Before TWC went digital, life was good. After they went digital, I had to get a cable card, tuning adapter, and a bigger TiVo HD because the files were 10x the size of the old analog files.

I think my mistake was putting the tuning adapter in top of the TiVo. The Tuning Adapter radiates heat like a pizza oven.

I paid big $$ for a new two-tuner premiere, pre-configured with a 2T HD. The HDMI output in that unit died after about three months. Then I upgraded my old S3 HD box with a new 2T HD. The HDMI and analog outputs on that box died after about 9 months. Today, I got a used Roamio Plus and put it into service. Despite a 1 inch gap between the tuning adapter and TiVo, the HDMI output on that box quit after 6 hours. This sux!

Questions: (1) have others had problems with the stupid tuning adapter and (2) is there a robust but cost-effective way to fix the HDMI outputs? The analog output on the premiere was still OK when I disconnected it earlier today but a separate component to HDMI box makes for a real rats nest of wires.

I'm really frustrated. I feel like smashing up the damn tuning adapter and sending the pieces back to TWC. If FOX news was available to stream I'd quit cable TV completely; HD broadcast signal is not bad here and we watch mostly Roku anyway.

Have others had such problems? Is there a fix?

Thanks.
