With regards to Series 2 and Tivo HD units - after they've been deactivated, you can't record to them any more. I assume all the audio/ video, HDMI outputs continue to function, so on a HD for example, you can watch whatever was on that HD at deactivation time in 5.1, 1080?
Also, do the network / USB connections cease to exist, or can you transfer FROM a decommissioned Tivo to a currently active one, and will a decommissioned unit appear on your in-home Tivo network - I assume not?
