File type codec error - pytivo help please.

I have series 4 and was running tivo desktop version 2.8.3
It was working fine this morning, then all of a sudden got this message: Tivo Server Error /Transfer server wrong version!

I did some research and decided to give pytivo a try.

I'm getting this message when I try to play back video after transferring via pytivo:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.
