Been a longtime TiVo owner, I have two HDs in service for longer than I've realized paying monthly, a series 2 and a premier:
- HD 6.95 monthly
- HD 12.95 monthly
- an old Series 2 humax in the basement with lifetime
- year old Premier 4 with lifetime.
I recently got one of those upgrade email offers for various Roamio packages + lifetime,
- Roamio + lifetime - $574.99
- Roamio plus + lifetime - $749.99
- Roamio pro + lifetime - $899.99
the deal say "Only valid for TiVo DVR TSN #", and references the premier. The question is, what happens to the Premier if I take this offer? It's not worth it if I lose the premier with lifetime.
I'm looking to upgrade the TV and TiVo currently hooked to the old humax w/ lifetime, and would probably just get the base Roamio model w/ lifetime. Wondering what my best option is. If I go to the TiVo shop site and purchase a roamio plus lifetime, it's $599.98, so the "deal" is only saving me about $25.
As a side note, thoughts on the HDs? should I bother trying to get $99 lifetime for them (or less if possible)? or should I try to get some new hardware deal with them and keep the monthly rates if possible? I should have tried to get the $99 years ago. I've more than paid them for these boxes! I don't have any immediate desire to get rid of them though - they work fine for my needs - just figured I'd use them til they died, but these things don't die (other than a hard drive replacement on one of them).
