I upgraded my std-def TV to an HD set and got a new cable box from Comcast (Motorola DCX3200 same as RNG 150N). I've had my Series II DT for 6 years working fine with Comcast, although I lost DT functionality several years ago in digital transition. The DCX3200 cable box has an HDMI output to the TV. It also has outputs for composite or component (no RF/coxial out!). My Series II could only take the composite. It would do me no good to connect to the cable wire coming from the wall before the Cable box because that signal is digital now.
I was going to output the composite signal from the box to my Series II and work with what I could get (only SD and only some channels). My main use of TIVO is just recording shows when I'm away and manipulating live TV. I can switch my TV to the DCX3200's HDMI input when I want live HD. I've had several people tell me that Comcast only allows 1 selection "out" from its boxes, and if I also use a composite out to my Series II they'll detect it, assume I'm trying to steal a signal and then brick my cable box. Any idea if that's true? Would I have any other options if it is true? (without new investment)
Thanks for any help you can give me.
