I will be away from my house for about 6 months and I have heard different schools of thought on what to do with my TiVo as far as reserving it's hard drive.
Should I just leave it on and let it record my shows over and over again and get messages and updates? (I won't be around to reboot it if it freezes.)

Put it into Standby Mode

Simply unplug it
