Cablecard reboot loop

I bought a used Roamio Basic on EBay and upgraded the drive. Anytime I place the unpaired cablecard in the Roamio, it locks the unit and sometimes reboots repeatedly or just stays frozen. Does anyone have any fixes for this? I am thinking the cablecard may be fried...
