Fully Automatic Commercial Skip Anyone?

I HATE commercials for so many reasons. If I force myself to watch any single commercial break on any cable tv network, not a single one of them ever applies to me and how insulting the tactics they use are. I find it absurd how many big pharm commercials exist where cartoons dance around while they try to get consumers to go and beg their doctors to prescribe them something like a supposedly wonderful asthma medication actually "Increases the chances of asthma related death" WTF!?!?! If someone needs it and wants it, how on earth could it be possible that a single American male exists in this country does not yet know that Viagra and Cialis exist? Am I supposed to change my toothpaste to Crest because they urge me to "Go Pro" and use professional health toothpaste? What the F does that really mean? "Going pro" means that you have reached a level of skill in something where you get paid for it and it is your "profession". Is someone gong to pay me to brush my teeth with this stuff? Would my job title change to "professional tooth brusher? I could go on and on. I pay the cable company over $250.00 and wold gladly pay double that to watch anything I want without commercials. Commercials actually have the opposite effect on me. I refuse to buy any product that runs excessive and/or annoying commercials. I chose my insurance company by choosing one that does not run a million ads. THEY are going to be the ones with lower rates.

Anyway, hat's off to TiVo for their new single button commercial skipping on many popular shows. The current advertising model for watching tv no longer works and it is just unacceptable to force us to watch up to 22 minutes of advertising for every hour of tv consumed. I have an idea to make commercial skipping COMPLETELY hands free. I'm an electrical engineer "not a professional tooth brusher", and have an idea for a simple product that will extend the commercial skip functionality to be completely automatic. How it would work is you would connect the RCA composite video out to a small device that would be constantly monitoring the video signal for the "Press D or Chan Up to Skip Commercials" banner that TiVo throws up when comskip is available, then would send out the IR signal to do it via a stick-on ir blaster. Is this something anyone else would be interested in? Would you pay $40-$50 for it? I know pushing a single button isn't a big deal, but I often watch tv while doing other stuff and have it on in the background. Plus, 15 years ago, I owned a couple ReplayTV DVRs that did this and it was freekin' awesome.
