Controlling TV volume with a tivo remote

We have lots of Tivo remotes in our house.



With some of them, I can press the volume button down and hold it down, and the volume will keep increasing until it hits the maximum.



However, one some of the other remotes, when I push the volume button, it only changes the sound a little bit. Then I have to release the volume button and push it again. Release and push, release and push until it finally reaches the maximum.



I want all of my remotes to allow me to push the volume and hold it down without releasing and hitting it again.



I figured that some of the remotes might be a problem because they are old.



However, I just bought a new one, and it does not allow me to press the volume one time and hold it down.



Is there some way to make all these remotes work the way I want? Is there some sort of setting or hack that can help with this?
