Possible Dish to Comcast

Looking at going from Dish with 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys to Comcast with 2 Tivo DVRs and 2 Minis. But, Comcast sales is driving me CRAZY!

They keep pushing me to bundles which are fine. I was wanting to get the 105MB internet with the HD Premier 260+ channel lineup. I keep saying that I want to use cable cards and Tivo but they keep saying that I need the X1 box, which I don't if I have Tivo.

Any advise on how to proceed?

Below is just one example of a chat I've have with them

Chris: Going back with your concern, yes you are correct, HBO OnDemand is in HD.

You: thanks

Chris: Thank you for waiting. To make sure that Digital Premier suits your needs, may I ask what channels are essentials to you?

You: all of them :)

You: i have dish right now with their 'everything' package

Chris: Do you watch channels, including HBO®, STARZ®, Cinemax® and SHOWTIME®.?

You: yes

Chris: Great! How many TVs do you own? How many are HD?

You: Well my problem is that I want to use my TIVO DVRs (2) not the X1 DVR unit

You: If i get say the triple play package with 105 internet and phone

You: do i just trade in the X1 dvr for 2 cable cards?

Chris: Just to clarify, are you interested in our Triple Play bundle?

You: yeah

Chris: Thank you for clarifying that for me.

You: i don't really need the phone service, but not sure that not getting the phone service will save me money

Chris: Thank you for letting me know.

Chris: For your Internet needs, what types of things do you like to do online?

You: streaming, online gaming, etc

Chris: Great! How many computers or gaming devices do you connect to the Internet?

You: ~10-12

Chris: How many TVs do you own? How many are HD?

You: 2

Chris: Perfect! Are you looking to transfer your phone number?

You: both HD

You: no

Chris: Thank you for all the information.

Chris: Based on the information you have provided earlier, I would highly recommend the HD Premier XF Triple Play Bundle. This package has the Digital Premier TV which has access to over 260 digital channels including HBO®, STARZ®, Cinemax® and SHOWTIME®.

You: ok

You: I would like to provide my own DVR

Chris: This package also includes XFINITY Voice Unlimited with unlimited nationwide calling with best call clarity and unlimited text as an additional feature. And the Extreme 105 Internet has download speeds up to 105 Mbps and upload speeds up to 20 Mbps. Perfect for hard-core gamers, households with multiple computers or devices and downloading large multi-media files. This is the ideal speed that will cater to your online activities.

Chris: How does that sound?

You: okay

You: i would like to provide my own DVR

You: so how would that work?

You: I believe the TIVO Roamio is fully compatible with Comcast

Chris: Yes, you have the option to use your own DVR. However, you will not be able to access OnDemand channels using your own DVR.

You: Actually I can in my area

Chris: Thank you for letting me know.

You: so how much is the triple play as suggested using my own DVRs and swapping out the X1 DVR for 2 cablecards?

Chris: HD Premier XF Triple Play is $159.99 per month for the first 12 months. After 24 months, monthly service charge goes to around $179.99 for months 25-36. After promotional period regular rate will apply which is around $209.99/month. There is a Free $200 Visa Prepaid Card. AnyRoom DVR is included. Equipment, installation, and taxes are extra.

Chris: On top of the package, it is recommended to lease our EMTA modem for around $8 a month. It will connect both the computer and the phone to the cable line with just one piece of equipment.

Chris: One moment please.

You: I would like to use my own modem from the Comcast compatibility list

Chris: Thank you for waiting, I understand that you would like to use your own modem. However, it is required to lease our EMTA modem since you will be having our Phone service.

You: ok

Chris: Going back to your concern about the switching of the X1 AnyRoom DVR into 2 cable cards, I apologize but I do not have control over that. The services found on the site with their corresponding eligibility are the only things I can offer you.

Chris: The X1 Platform makes your entertainment experience as smooth as possible with convenient features and the latest technology.

Chris: The X1 AnyRoom DVR lets you record up to 4 shows at once, so your entire family can enjoy recording shows without any conflicts. It provides integrated search results, which means you can search for your favorite shows across live TV, On Demand, and the DVR.

Chris: A great feature that you can download on to your Apple device is the X1 Remote App. It lets you control your TV, plus it uses voice commands so you can change channels, search for shows and get recommendations.

Chris: How does that sound?

You: The problem is that the X1 DVR just doesn't have enough space for my needs

You: which is why i want to use my TIVO DVRs

Chris: With our AnyRoom-DVR you will have up to 500GB of storage; you will be able to store up to 300 hours of Standard Definition programming or 60 hours of High Definition programming.

You: My current Dish DVRs have 2TB drives and they are both between 50-75% full

Chris: Thank you for letting me know.

Chris: Do you have any other questions before we place the order?

Chris: How are things coming along?

You: So how much per month would it be to not bundle and just get the 105 internet and the Premier channel lineup?

You: That way I'm not tied to the X1 DVR

You: and I can use cablecards?

Chris: Let me check that for you.

Chris: Based on the information that you have provided earlier, I highly recommend the Digital Premier XF Double Play Bundle.

You: as long as i can use my own DVRs

Chris: This bundle has the Digital Premier TV which has access to over 260 digital channels including HBO®, STARZ®, Cinemax® and SHOWTIME® plus Sports Entertainment Package with NFL RedZone. This also includes the Extreme 105 internet which has download speeds up to 105 Mbps and upload speeds up to 20 Mbps. Perfect for hard-core gamers, households with multiple computers or devices and downloading large multi-media files. This is the ideal speed that will cater to your online activities.

Chris: Digital Premier XF Double Play Bundle is just $129.99 per month for the first 24 months. For months 25-36, monthly charge goes $149.99 per month. After 36 months, regular rates apply which is around $180 per month for both services. There's a 2 year agreement for this bundle. HBO®, STARZ®, Cinemax® & SHOWTIME® included and also AnyRoom DVR. Equipment, installation, and taxes are extra.

Chris: On top of the package, it is recommended to lease our XFINITY Wireless Gateway for around $8 per month, which includes a router and a cable modem. It allows multiple devices in the house to access the Internet at the same time with reliably fast speeds!

Chris: How does that sound?

You: Can I use my TIVO DVRs and cable cards with that?

Chris: It also includes a $50 Visa Card.

Chris: You do have the option to do that. However, you will need to purchase a cable card from us.

Chris: Do you have any other questions before we place the order?

You: yes that is fine

Chris: Please note that X1 AnyRoom DVR is also included on this package.

You: So if i agree, and the installer comes out he will have the cable cards?

You: I have no need for the X1 if I get cable cards

Chris: Yes, you are correct. However, I understand that you don't need the X1 DVR since you already have the TIVO DVR, just letting you know that it is also included when you purchase the package.
