I have a Premiere XL4 and transfer the Tivo files to a couple of WinXP machines. I have had the Tivo a little more than3 weeks. Yesterday for the first time a recording wouldn't completely transfer, 5+GB on the Tivo but 990MB arriving on the machines. I deleted the program and scheduled to record it again when it re-airs in a few days.
Tonight I'm trying to determine if one of the tuners was giving me more AC-timing errors than the others. Four programs were scheduled for tonight. I altered the start and end times so as to be able to differentiate which tuner was recording which. The first hour show was the only show being recorded. Fifteen minutes into the show, while I was watching Live TV, the XL4 lost connectivity - the cable company feed died apparently for about a minute. Later when I started to download the 4 shows I recorded to one of the machines, the 5+GB file quit at 831MB. Okay, I know now what causes that and will delete and try to reschedule. I was lucky in that I wasn't watching a previously recorded show or I would have missed it.
Problem is when a program isn't going to be repeated allowing me to re-record. Is there a way to transfer the damaged Tivo file to another machine?
Also I saw in one of the other posts on this kind of problem, mention of transferring the files as .ts rather than as .TIVO extension. How is this done? Thanks.
