Record All Shows and Keep Until I delete

After the Fall Update I chose the Season Pass option to record all shows. However, the Tivo chooses the SD version when there isn't an HD channel available (I live between two markets where one market only has a SD version). Is there a way to ignore the SD channel?



Also, when I set up a Season Pass and I choose the option to 'Keep until I delete' the Tivo still schedules to delete them. When I select the show it allows me to extend the length of time to keep it, but it only allows me to extend it for two weeks even when I delete a lot of old shows. Is there a way to change it back to 'Keep until I delete'? Thanks.

Android Streaming Issue

Anyone else having the following issue on unrooted devices?



If i connect to wifi and run streaming setup (In Home and Out of Home) it completes successfully, and i am able to stream shows.



if i then turn off wifi and enable cellular streaming, then try to watch a show on the phone, i get this error:







If i run setup again it fails with this error:







This happened on my phone (A 2013 Moto X Unrooted, Unlocked Bootloader) and my wife's phone (Samsung Galaxy S4 Stock)

Thumbs Up

Lately a thumbs up to record has been showing up on the screen. Very annoying especially since the program is already recording. Now it will show up on the recorded programs. Anyone else having this issue? Or anyone have a solution?

Verizon FIOS

Verizon recently completed the installation of FIOS in my 84 unit Co-Op building. In the next few days they will have representatives in the lobby to meet with interested parties and they are offering 30 days free trial. I plan on taking the trial offer but I don't know what to expect and am hoping for some suggestions here.



I have a Roamio Pro and my current provider is TW. Will I be downloading the programming for both TW and FIOS or will Tivo just find my season passes for both services. I want to make the most of the 30 days so I can make a decision on what to keep.

Side loaded on Kindle Fire HD, but font too big?

I side loaded the APK onto my Fire HD but I can't get past the setup because the menu is being clipped and the buttons are being pushed off the bottom.







Looks like a font issue, but there is no way to change the font on the Fire that I can find. (other then an accessibility feature that makes it bigger and the problem worse)

Considering mini but have some queries

I'm considering getting a mini now that there's no more service fee, but I don't know if it would be worth it.



Currently I have 2 Panasonic plasma TVs -- one downstairs for main viewing connected to a Roamio Pro and another one upstairs in a spare room that is connected to a SD set-top box (because FIOS charges a whopping $8/mo just for the HD box).



The mini would eliminate the need for the set-top box upstairs and give me HD picture on my other plasma, but I'm concerned about dedicating one tuner to the mini. Does that mean I can no longer switch back and forth between six programs on the main Roamio unit? I rarely if ever record six programs at once but I do like the ability to set my tuners to six different stations (local networks, HBO, Showtime) and go back and forth between the buffered recordings.



Also, what is the best connection for the mini? My cable modem and wireless router are all on the first floor, so I would not be able to provide a wired ethernet connection for the mini. Does it require a lot of bandwith? Currently I have a 50/50 connection but am considering downgrading.



Any advice or suggestions would be greatly welcome. Thanks.

missing program information

I am missing program information for one channel only (National Geographic Wild-132). When I move to that channel it comes in clearly but there is no program information-I get the channel number and nothing else.

TiVo Mini no longer compatible with Network Andriod App

This update broke the network control of the tivo mini. After speaking with tech support they provided this as the reason.



" William: Okay I'm afraid what I am being told is the Mini was never intended for use with network control, it seems you were able to use the feature before but was an unintentional feature.

xxx: you're telling me the mini worked and i bought it for the exact reason and now you removed it why?

William: Not removing it per say but was a byproduct of some other feature and current versions that byproduct may not be working any longer.

xxx: why would you possibly remove a functionality that worked?

This is ridiculous, why would they remove network remote control of the mini? How can we fix this? Oh and the iOS app works just fine controlling the mini over the network....

The "who dies?" tipoff was "and Laura German." in the opening credits, although the writers probably had to cuff themselves to not leave the Dawson/Casey proposal unrequited.



It's amusing that Mouch is dating the Chicago PD Amazon Sergeant who told Severide "I would break you." (I have not caught up on Chicago PD)



Prediction, since every Chicago Fire plot goes the same way: Dawson (and how is that a Dominican name?) goes to Truck 61 suffers badly and Casey has conniptions wanting to go fight for her.



Dramas and long plaintive looks ensue until DUNN DUNN DUUNNNNN the fateful day BRAAAAAPPPPPP! Truck 61 is on a fire call and Dawson herself single-handedly rescues Lt. Welch. "Then all the fire gear loved her as they shouted out with glee.."

OOH max bitrate boosted?

I know there's a thread with measured OOH stream bit rates, but I can't find it (link anyone?) so excuse me for creating a new thread. Also I don't have a "Stream" per say, but since the Roamio Pro contains the Stream hardware, I guess this is as good a board to post as anywhere.



I streamed something to my iPhone 5s (iOS 8.0.2) from my Roamio Pro today on my office WiFi network and noticed that I got all 7 dots filled in and the picture looked really good.



I remoted into my router and checked to see if maybe TiVo had disabled the proxy server for OOH. They did not, my router still reported a connection to switchnap.com. What I did notice though was that the stream bit rate was 2.2 Mbps. That's 1 Mbps higher than the max bitrate of 1.2 Mbps that TiVo lists on it's OOH support document on it's web site. As such, it looks like the page is wrong.



I don't think that page has been updated for awhile considering there's now 7 dots and not 6 as the page states.



Can anyone confirm that the streaming bit rate now exceeds 1.2 Mbps and can anyone else get all 7 dots when streaming OOH?

Some friends who used to live here but have moved away have a musically talented and creative family. All of them can play, sing, and there is a lot of songwriting happening in that family. They have a son who is 20, and he auditioned for The Voice. He was shown briefly last night (not the full audition)and turned three of the Judges' chairs (Blake, Gwen, and Pharrell) and chose Pharrell.



Our family didn't really watch the last season, but we will be watching this season. Oh- his name is Jordy Searcy. They tagged him as a "surfer" but he is really a student who surfs. In Alabama, no less.

can't stream on rooted android devices

I have a Verizon Droid Maxx running kit Kat and am rooted to use xposed framework. Says no streaming allowed due to unauthorized modifications. I have tried use the root cloak module for xposed and it doesn't make a difference. I am not upset or angry. It is understandable why they don't allow rooted devices. Just wanted to say if anyone finds a way to get it to work, keep us posted. I'll be looking out for a method for the next week or so.

Hard Drive Upgrade question

Have a TIVO Roamio 4 tuner base I use for just OTA programs that is almost full. If I upgrade the hard drive is there anyway to copy the recorded shows to the new drive? Thanks!

Thanks Steve. That's an interesting starting point for me, but probably not the whole solution. Right now we have 5 TVs in our house and only 2 of them have HDVR2/Sat+Tivo connections. The other 3 TVs just use basic OTA with an HDVR2 output muxed in on NTSC channel 3.



The AM-21 looks like a good solution for my 2 main sets (assuming a sat+OTA muxed signal can feed 2 AM-21s), but is there a way for my 3 other sets to keep OTA without needing set top boxes?

good job guys, you did it- the app is released.



Phone OnePlus One, ATT unlimited grandfathered plan



1) crashed when started the first time

2) logged in 2nd time

3) setup remotely my tivo stream box was quick and easy (first time using the box)

4) went to push play, I get a error saying you can't stream over cellular.

5) went into settings and turned on the cellular override.

6) started streaming Family Guy: Simpsons crossover episode.

7) works good, picture looks fine on my 5.5 inch 1080p screen



Still upset about not being able to download shows when I am at home on wifi.



Was it worth the 1+ year wait, I don't know... if I didn't have unlimited bandwidth I would say NO way. Streaming is so bad. But not being able to download a bunch of stuff is really really disappointing...

android tivo stream app not working. says unauthorized modifications detected

hey all. I downloaded the new tivo app for my android phone this morning expecting to be able to stream shows to my device but my excitement was quickly extinguished with the error "unauthorized modifications detected" and I could not stream to my phone. Now not blow this out of perportion but my android is stock android 4.4.4 on my moto x (gen 1). I did have developer options turned on to speed up menu speed but i disabled that and rebooted. My phone is not rooted nor do i run any third party launcher. Just the google now launcher. Its pretty much stock android.



So I have a feeling i am out of luck getting this to work but does anyone have a list from tivo on what it determines as being unauthorized mods?

I caught the new update early Tuesday morning. Works great thank you!



I did have to go into the settings menu and explicitly turn streaming over lte on. My phone has unlimited data so not an issue. My tablet that was rooted can't stream though, bummer. I'm putting the original Rom back on (good bye unrestricted sdcard support). Since its data plan is limited I'm glad the default stream over lte is disabled.

Bizarre time bug in 20.4.4

Today's recording of Gotham lists a recorded time of "1 Day, 6 Hours, 6 Min". It shows the correct (1 Hour) time in the green time bar that appears when the shows begins.

Unknown Symbol on Episode Info

I've recently noticed a symbol that appears next to episodes that are not available when browsing around on my Roamio. For example, I pulled up the Episodes feature for The Blacklist and select Episode 1 of Season 2. On the bottom right of the screen, where it would normally show the symbols for TV, Netflix, or Amazon, I see a downward pointing arrow into a circle.



Any thoughts on what this symbol means? If I select the episode, it tells me that the episode is not available.

Shark Tank Season 6 Thread

Shark Tank is one of my favorite tv shows. For those that don't already know, the show features six business people including billionaire Mark Cuban, Damon John of FUBU and four others getting pitched business investment propositions by hopeful American entrepreneurs. Season six premiered on ABC with a double episode this Friday September 26th at 8 PM. It will settle into its regular time slot at 9 PM ET on Friday nights.



These first two back to back episodes featured eight pitches in total including some that were total non-starters to a few that got interest from the investors. There was also a lot of the usual sappiness with a fair bit of talking about some of the entrepreneurs' children and personal dramas to provide a back story for these business people looking to start or expand their businesses.



In the first episode I thought that the guys with the mobile wedding business who were looking to franchise their idea were foolish for selling their original Las Vegas based business which would have provided the model for potential franchisees. The nail shop for guys was also a horrible idea that got rejected.



In the second episode I was quite surprised that the Roominate building toy for children was so successful coming into the tank, but the investment itself was not so surprising. The floating mug idea I didn't think had a chance but even they got an investment.



It's also nice to see more update segments on investments from previous seasons.

Did Margret or anybody say anything about android streaming not being available by tomorrow? It's been awfully quite around here with the anticipation of a highly sought after capability supposedly to be released any day now.

Comcast Cablecards

Hi all - TIVO noob here.



Just recently purchased a Roamio Plus, Roamio Basic and 2 Mini's.

Has been a nightmare with Comcast just to get the cable cards (started the process well over a week ago).



Won't go into details, but where I am at is they are sending a Comcast tech out to the house this Thursday - they are waiving the installation fee because of all the BS I have been through with them. My question to the members of this forum is what should I be looking for before the tech leaves my house to be sure everything is running properly?



I have installed a MOCA network and all the Tivo devices are currently updated. I can see the two main Tivo's on the mini screen, but won't let me connect to them I'm guessing because the main Roamio's aren't activated yet.



Any input would be greatly appreciated!

iOS8, iPad2 and the TiVo app

Anyone have any experience yet on how well (or how poor) the TiVo iOS app streams video from the Stream on an iPad 2 upgraded to iOS 8?



Today Apple disallowed downgrading from 8 to 7 so there's no going back after an upgrade now.



Everything is working pretty much flawlessly right now on my iPad 2 and iOS 7. I think I'll hold on this for a while...but wondered if anyone else had any experiences to report?

iPhone 6+, tivo stream and app

Anyone here with an iphone 6+ see the horrible quality that it now displays when streaming a show at full strength because of the bigger screen?



the resolution that the stream sent the smaller iphone 5s and below was nice for that small screen, but now since the 6+ zooms the app to fit the screen, it looks terrible.



hope they update the app soon and add an HD profile for the phone like the ipad.

Why does my Roamio Plus keep forgetting Netflix login?

I have had a Tivo Roamio Plus since May.

I swear I have entered my Netflix login at least four times. The Tivo keeps forgetting it.



Is there anything I can do to make it stick?

New to TiVo - Couple of Questions

TiVO is brand new to me. Had it setup in a new house with a local cable company last week. Used Dish DVRs for several years...and the past 4 years have been using a different cable company's whole home DVR solution, that is much different than TiVO. I know I have a lot to learn about TiVO, but a lot of things seem to take a lot of steps to do.



I have a Premier Q TiVo with 3 TiVO minis. A few questions I have:



1. I know the Premier Q has 4 tuners, can I setup a shared tuner, so I can use PIP on a TV to use HDMI? Or, would I have to install a splitter and run the coax to the TV for PIP?



2. Can I setup different guide listings and switch between them easily? For example, with my current cable company I have several different guides (HD, Sports, Favorites, Movies, Music, SD, All, etc.) and to switch between them I just keep pressing Guide...each time I press it, a different guide listing shows.



3. I can't find a way to click on a show in the guide and tell it to record all, without having to go into the Season Pass and set it up there. Seems to be way too many steps than what I'm used to. Is there a quicker way?



I know there are other questions I've had, just can't think of them right now. And, I may like TiVO after I get used to it, but right now it seems like it has a lot of overhead.

Any remedy for constant tuning adapter problems?

The tuning adapter has always been problematic since I got the HD TiVo but lately it seems even more so. I find myself restarting either the TiVo, the TA or both at least once a week due to channels that won't tune in. Restarting always fixes the problem but it happens far too often and it's frustrating.



In the past when I have contacted TWC about any such issues they really don't seem to know what they are talking about, and I end up wasting a lot of time on the phone.



Has anyone had any luck getting issues like this resolved for good?

Which is the better HDD for Roamio upgrade?

I want to upgrade my Roamio from its standard 500MB drive to a 3TB drive and see most folks getting the WD AV-GP 3TB AV SATA II drive (WD30EURS), but I also see a WD AV-GP 3TB AV SATA III drive (WD30EURX) available on Amazon and the WD30EURX seems to have a better max data transfer rate, with all other specs being the same. Besides the superior specification is about a $10 lower cost.



So with that said, would the WD30EURX be a better drive for the Roamio or am I miss-reading something?

How do I navigate the Netflix app?

For the life of me I can't figure out how when a show ends, I get back to the Netflix menu without completely exiting the app.



The circle with the backwards arrow doesn't do it, neither does the left arrow.

Tivo Roamio OTA + Tivo Roamio Cable + Tivo Mini + Tivo Stream

I have a Tivo Roamio Pro, Tivo Premiere, and Tivo Mini currently running in my home.



I am able to stream from both the Tivo Roamio and Tivo Premiere to IOS devices in my home. I guess the Premiere is able to use the streaming capability built into the Roamio pro since I don't have a separate Tivo Stream for the Premiere.



I am interested in the possibility of adding a Tivo Roamio standard for OTA.

1) Can my Tivo Mini transfer shows from both the pro and the OTA TiVo's?

2) Can I stream the OTA shows to my IOS devices without needing an additional TiVo Stream, like my TiVo premiere is able to do now?

Once Upon A Time "A Tale of Two Sisters" (S4E01, 9/28/14, Spoilers)

Not sure if this show is one that will have enough interest in an episode thread or not, but here is one anyway.



First, Once has always been based on the Disney versions of the fairy tales. I don't think there's any doubt. Still, they've hinted at the Disney origins here and there, but haven't been particularly blatant about it - until this episode. One anvil was the dance between Belle and Mr. Gold to the instrumental theme to "Beauty and the Beast." Both of us here (almost simultaneously) went "Really!??!" when that started playing.



Then, the whole Frozen storyline. It wasn't "Here's this plot that was sort of inspired by the Ice Princess fairy tale," it was "This is basically Frozen 2: Frozen Boogaloo." The characters -- all of them, from the king and queen, to Elsa and Anna, to Sven and Kristoff, even the trolls and the Snow Monster -- are almost exactly as they were in the movie, and the plot line basically starts off following the events of the movie. And if that wasn't anvil-icious enough, the scene with Emma and Regina on each side of the door was basically cribbed from the end of "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?"



I'm not sure how I feel about that. A part of me thinks this is a bit Frozen overload. Yes, it was a good movie, but this feels a bit much. Still, I thought they did a decent job at casting Anna. She did remind me of Kristen Bell's voice performance. Elsa seemed to go in a slightly different direction from that in the movie, though.



Other random thoughts:

- Interesting to see Sidney pop back up. Convenient that he pops back up as soon as Giancarlo Esposito's other series got canceled.

- Why have I never noticed how girly Hook's earring is before now? Yes, I know, he wears guy-liner, so I suppose he's allowed.

- The hat at the end reminded me very strongly of The Sorcerer's Apprentice. I wonder where they're going with that. Hopefully not another anvil-icious reference to the Disney world...

Family Guy - The Simpsons Guy OAD 9/28/2014 (spoilers)

So the big Simpsons / Family Guy crossover aired and I enjoyed it. Lots of jokes about Family Guy ripping off of The Simpsons (my favorite was the two James Woods characters), jokes about The Simpsons being stale, cameos from other Fox shows (and beyond) and some really disturbing scenes.



The whole thing played out at times like a Family Guy episode, just with Simpsons characters, which is a good thing. Were there things that were predictable, sure, cliche even, but it was a fun one-time ride.

Problem with a channel (OTA)

Cut the cord. Still use my series 3. For some reason I have a channel not coming in, however another tv connected to the same antenna pulls the channel just fine. All,other channels seem to be coming in fine on the TiVo. Any ideas what may be happening?

Mix Tivo Types

I've been wanting to dump Cox cable for some time due to their continual price increases but my 2 series 2's keep me hooked.

If I got a new Tivo for the Dish I'm thinking I could let that one do all the recording and transfer the shows over my home network.

Does anyone know if there's any problem doing that?

Migrating shows from Windows Media Center to Romaio Pro

We are moving from Windows Media Center to a Romaio Pro/Mini/Roku setup at our home.



I am wondering if there is a way to convert our shows on media center to a format the tivo could play in an effort to get rid of the Media Center box.



Is this possible?

Tivo Roamio Pro won't save pause point while recording live

My Tivo Roamio Pro won't save my pause point on programs currently being recorded.



I'm a big football fan, and when recording games, and like to jump around and zip through games that are currently being recorded... When I hit pause, and go to another game, catch up on that one, and then come back to the game I had set the pause on, I have to start from the top, and shuffle to where I left off.



I have had to resort to writing the time down, so I know where I left off, and then go to that point when I return. A big time waster.



This does not happen to recordings that have completed. The Tivo remembers that pause point. It does not matter if two games are being recorded, or six at once. Anything that is in the process of being recorded will not save the pause point.



You may ask why I don't watch one at a time. Because during the game, the networks spoil what has happened in the other by showing highlights. So to maintain any suspence, I jump from game to game.



Any thoughts on why this is happening? Do I have a defective unit? Or do others experience the same? I was hoping that the latest software/firmware upgrade would address this, but it did not.

I am thinking of buying a TIVO...I am sold but need to know one more thing...I know that they will work in more than one room with a gadget..my question is there any way to separate what is recorded by each user in each room? Or does is all just pile up on one drive ?

External drives that already have video content

Can I hook an eSATA drive to my Roamio that has video content already on it (mp4, avi, etc,)? Transferring using the Tivo Desktop Plus software seems to always be a hit or miss proposition.

I was really surprised that there was no tribute to Don Pardo. He was the announcer from day one of the show - for 40 years. A five second picture in an ad bumper with no name is not fitting.

OTA or Mini

Good morning.



I currently have a Tivo Roamio and a mini. I want to add another Tivo or mini into the mix for another room.



Question:



Will the Tivo OTA "work as a mini and let me watch recorded shows and such from my original Roamio or do I need the mini to do that? (asking because of cost difference).



If went with OTA would splitting my antenna signal work and allow me to watch different show in different rooms?

TiVo dead? It's making a rat-a-tat-tat sound.

I can't really describe it better than that, and if it's not a familiar sound for a problematic TiVo, I can record it making it, although I've unplugged it now and would rather not plug it back in again.



I first noticed no Freeview signal (which is the source) was being passed through, as the RF aerial loops through to a second TV in the room, thought it might be the Freeview box, as that had crashed again, then saw the TiVo was no longer functioning.



It's making a constant rat-a-tat-tat sound, akin to New Order's Blue Monday. The screen is blank and the unit is unresponsive. I know it's happened in the last 24hrs.



I've had it a few years, but is it a new PSU that'll fix it, or is it the hard drive or motherboard, and if the latter then I may as well replace the unit?

Fall Update hurts SD Shows list

I just got the 2014 Fall update and my Premiere XL is not doing so good. I use SD menus and now the "My Shows" list does not seem to cache. I have to wait a moment each time I go to it for the list to load. It is so slow it appears to load a show at a time in the list.



Even if I scroll down and then back up to the top I have to wait again for the list of shows to propagate.

Netflix app on iPhone not casting to TiVo anymore

In the past, I had no problems casting to the TiVo Netflix app from my iPhone. Lately, it seems that it has stopped working like it used to. I think this happened following the Fall 2014 software update.



Anyone else experiencing this?

diagnostics on a tivo formatted drive

I have a tivo HD (S3) in a reboot loop. I ran kickstart 54, 57 and 58. KS 54 showed no errors on any of the tests (short-long, etc). This reboot followed a data corruption issue (unable to load new program data...which I thought fixed with the KS 57). A couple of days later the reboot started.



I installed the original WD HDD and the tivo booted right up and loaded program data and updates...which leads me to believe that it is the hdd.



It is an WD AV-G EURS 2 Tb drive that is the one causing problems. I plugged it into my computer with a USB-SATA adapter, but I cant seem to read the disk using Win7 to run WD DIAX tools (just to be sure the disk is not bad). I can see the drive as administrator with WINMSF...



Anybody know how I can gain windows access to the drive to test it using USB to SATA...is this a matter of needing to hook it up internally to my Win7PC?



I checked out the power supply and maybe there is one slightly bulged capacitor. I could replace it if I knew what the label on it said...it is hard to read...if you think that is the problem.



Any help appreciated.

Transferring shows with dates

I m in the process transferring my shows from my Roamio to my XL4. If Iuse the transfer from the Roamio to the XL4 you have to click each show one at a time. I am using KMTTG in the tivo format to down load the shows from the roamio. I use pytivo to push the shows back to the XL4 but it not showing the season and episode or air date on the Roamio. Are their a quicker way of transferring the shows from the Roamio to the XL4? How do you transfer the show so the will show the season and episode or air date?

Roamio mini with 2 mini's need help making moca connection (OTA user)

Hello. I am hoping someone can help me. I am trying to make a moca connection to allow me to use my mini's off my base Roamio. Let me describe my setup:



My roof mounted antennas are coupled together using a special combiner and go to a Channel Master 3414 distribution amp in my attic that then splits that signal to 3 TV sets (2 of those are where I want to use the mini's; the Roamio is on the other TV). My cable internet coaxial line runs into the very rear of the basement (it is the only place the internet coax enters the home). My Roamio is also on a television in this same room. My router and modem are also in this room.



I have been under the impression that I would need 1 moca adapter and this splitter to make it work: http://ift.tt/1e1miGT



Right now, I have the Moca adapter at the front of the basement with the Roamio. I an ethernet cord connected from the Moca adapter to my router. I also have an ethernet cord connected from my Roamio to the same router. Where I am confused is how to connect the coaxial feed coming from behind the Roamio TV to allow for the Moca connection and how to properly utilize the splitter. If someone could please outline where I need to make the connections to with that coaxial line I would greatly appreciate it.

Failed External Drive Upgrade

Added a WD DVR Expander external hard drive to my Series 3 XL HD seemingly without incident.



Told it to record an upcoming program, and it said please wait....



THREE HOURS later, it was still saying please wait, and not responding to any remote buttons. So I rebooted by yanking the power cord and plugging it back in.



It went through the normal reboot process without incident til the end, when it just went to a grey screen instead of the last channel it was on.



Rebooted again, same way, same result.



Replaced remote batteries, disconnected the drive, rebooted, got the screen that external storage was missing, press CLEAR to proceed without external storage. I pressed clear, and nothing happened. Rebooted again, same way, same result.



So now if I boot without the drive, I get nothing but the screen telling me there's no drive and to hit CLEAR (which doesn't work). If I boot with the drive, I get nothing but a blank grey screen.



Where do I go from here?

Recieved a PACEXG1. Records 6 channels with all the TIVO software.

73 Hours HD or 620 Hours SD. My question, which TIVO Roamerio

is this compared with. Using my old one in the bedroom and can

transfer back and forth useing a wireless connection.

Drive won't Expand

Hello Everyone,



I need some help. I've spent hours looking through previous solutions on this forum and just haven't found an answer for my situation. I have a 1.5 TB that copies fine, no errors. Then when I go to expand I get the "Expand Did not finish successfully" error.



Equipment: TiVo Premiere 4



Background: My house was struck by lightning a few weeks ago, and fried all the HDMI ports in my house. I used the replacement program from TiVo to get a new box, and keep my discounted monthly rate. I then transfered all the shows from the old box to the new box via my network. Then took both drives out of the TiVo's, and copied the new drive to my previously expanded 1.5 TB drive out of the old unit. Copy worked fine, expand gives me the error. Both Hard drives work fine in the TiVo. Previous expansion with the same drive for the now bad TiVo was completed on the same computer/motherboard and hard drive, and I had no problems.



Troubleshooting: I've taken the following steps: Run a Full HD scan with WD's utility of my 1.5 tb drive and a full scan of the new TiVo's drive with SeaTools. Both come back with no errors. I tried re-starting the whole process with no luck. I've also done KS57 and KS58 on both drives, then tried to re expand and even re copy and re expand, still got the same symptoms. I also tried the hdparm method described in another thread but that says "HPA setting seems invalid"



fdisk gives me:

Newest software version sucks!

version 20.4.4a.xxxx was just updated on my Series 4 tivo. I use the standard menu screen and now when i go to "my shows" and want to scroll down the list using the channel down button to go from the top of the list to the bottom, when the next line of titles comes up it slowly lists one after the next till it lists all on that page and it takes like 5 seconds to do.



Previously you just hit the button, boom . boom. boom they were there now it takes 30 seconds to get theu 5 or 6 pages of programs. This totally sucks.:down::mad:

Comcast / Series 2 / HDMI cabling - My misunderstanding?

I am upgrading a 15-year old home theater setup which consists of a Comcast set top box for basic cable, Series 2 Tivo, CD/DVD, 5.1 Yamaha A/V receiver, and a huge Panasonic 56" rear projection TV (which I am trying to give away).



As the first stage of this upgrade, I am trying to recable and configure two replacement components: a Vizio 60" HDTV (e600i-B3) and Yamaha A/V receiver (RX-V477), both of which recommend HDMI cabling.



While the TV works fine for video streaming from my home network, the receiver is not feeding the TV or its speakers with either the video or audio signal I was expecting from the Comcast decoder or Tivo DVR.



I am not sure why this is happening, but suspect my cabling may reflect my misunderstanding of what HDMI does. I was under the impression that the HDMI interface on the receiver would automatically handle all of the audio and video connections and switching required between the Yamaha receiver and the Vizio TV.



I connected a 3-conductor composite (video, audio L+R) cable from the Tivo S2 to the AV4 input on the Yamaha, thinking that the receiver's internal HDMI switching and video upscaling would handle any necessary signal conversion.



Is this overly simplistic and do I need to make additional connections? The Yamaha manual does not specifically address Tivo or Comcast components. Thanks for any help.

Chromecast no longer works?

I have a Roamio Plus, and was please to see that I could use Chromecast to cast a video stream (via Youtube) from my phone to my TiVo. After the fall update, Chromecast no longer finds the TiVo any more. Does anyone else have this problem?

TiVo user interface language: English only?

Is the TiVo user interface only available in English?



I can't find a setting on my TiVo to change it. And searching this forum didn't bring up any previous threads.



Are any other languages available on any of the TiVos?

Tivo service not found

The tivo can't find the service, but all network tests pass. Even tried inputting IP info instead of DHCP.

V53 Error Solved!!?

I sometimes get that (V53) error on my premiere. After reading some threads that mentioned disabling tuners, I thought I would see if one of the other tuners would not display the message. But, when I switched to the other tuners a total of three of them were all tuned to the same channel (702) and each displayed the V53 error, though the picture and sound was fine. After changing the tuners to different channels I returned to the original tu er, still on 702, and The error message was gone!



So, to anyone who has issues with this error message, switch to each of your tuners and change each tuner to a different channel to see if that clears the V53 error message!

How do new provider apps get added? Who develops them?

Who develops the provider apps? Tivo or the provider?



I have Time Warner Cable and the only drawback is that, without a TWC STB, I couldn't access their on demand content. Now they have PC, iOS, Android and Roku apps available so that we can watch the on demand content through TWC TV. I can watch easily enough on my Roku but I'd love to be able to keep most of my television watching on my Tivo when possible. Who would be in charge of developing a TWC TV app for the Tivo? Tivo or TWC?

Favorite channels for more than one person?

Can I have more than one set of favorites channels? My wife and I have very different tastes when it comes to our favorite channels. One list would not really work nearly as well as each of us being able to set up our own. Is that possible?



Also, do I need to setup a favorites list on my main Tivo and then do it again on each of my Minis, or does the list propagate down to the Minis?

Amazon streaming bitrate

I just thought I'd post this here, as a Tivo qualifies to stream Amazon Instant Video. I am wondering what the typical video bitrates turn out to be, both for HD and SD streaming (as I see both are being used). I am interested in whatever anyone might know about the bitrate of the actual video, as well as the incoming transfer bitrate. Does TWC internet service bandwidth-throttle Amazon like they do Youtube?

Roamio Pro with sound but no picture

:mad:Ok I have a Roamio Pro which I bought in June of this year. I was working on my sound system today. the speaker was disconnected from my amp so I was pulling form the bunch of wires. After I got done I tested to make sure every thing worked. I guess that the speaker pulled the HDMI cable that was connected to my tivo.The Comcast, Will, and dvr will work.

I get sound but no picture. I unplugged the Tivo and restarted it. When it restarts I get the tivo picture with the screen reading "will be just a few minutes more". When it get to where the tivo guy does his walking there is no picture but they are sound.

I have it connected to my tv in my bedroom with a component cable and the tivo works ok.

Would this the case of a damaged HDMI connector on the tivo.

I do have the extended warranty. Would any one know the cost of sending this back to Tivo and having it repaired. I do know they will send back ether a new or refurbished unit. :down:

Popping sound when releasing pause

Hi folks,



Recently got a roamio pro to add to the two Elites I already own. Fantastic box. the one and only problem......... when I have either live TV or a recording paused, when I come off pause, 9 times out of 10, there is a popping sound as the audio resumes.



I have searched for "popping" on the forum and have not seen this. The only way I can eliminate the problem is to switch to PCM audio, then of course, I no longer get the 5.1 audio stream to my preamp/processor.



To eliminate all possibilities that this could be something other than the roamio, i pulled the HDMI from one of the elites and plugged it into the roamio, and the popping is there.



Tivo support is absolutely no help. i called them three times to get different people because their explanations were crazy. One said my processor might need a new fuse (seriously?), one said that Tivo only guarantees to work when hooked to a TV, period.



Any thoughts would be a great help.

Protected content can now be downloaded/transferred?

I have my Mac setup to use kmttg to auto download shows to my computer. When I looked at the folder today, I noticed something odd......suddenly movies and shows from premium channels were downloaded.



This is included movies like Dallas Buyers Club on HBO, and Saving Mr. Banks on Starz.



I also notice that via the iPad app, the Download option is available for these.



Is this a mistake after the latest software update? Is it something set by local cable co?

TiVo OTA question - access to ESPN, CNN, Comedy Central

I am considering cutting the cord and purchasing the Tivo OTA and I was wondering if there is a way to get CNN, ESPN and Comedy Central without having a cable subscription. In other words, is it possible to receive these channels on a TiVo OTA without having a cable subscription?

Is TiVo Desktop software still available?

I want to upgrade a TiVo hard drive. I figure the easiest way to save it current recordings is to copy them to my desktop and then copy back (after the upgrade) with the TiVo Desktop software. Is this software still available? If so, where can I download it?

Convert Roamio Basic from CableCard to OTA?

I currently have one Roamio Basic configured with CableCard and I'm thinking of swapping that one out with a Roamio Plus for the additional tuners. I currently have 3 Mini's hanging off of the Basic and starting to see more 'all tuners in use' messages than I'd like.



If I reconfigure the Basic to OTA-only from CableCard, will all of the currently recorded content still be accessible on that box, or will it be erased when I change the content source.



Just trying to define the cleanest way to make the transition if I decide to go ahead with this. I have an external drive on the box and understand the issues with that, just not sure if there is anything that removes content recorded via CableCard if the CableCard is de-activated.

Wow, I can't believe it's Season 11! I'm still watching.



I miss Cristina already. But I thought it was pretty funny how Meredith has decided to move Alex into 'her person' role.



Looks like little Shepard is still around (can't remember her name.) Not sure why it's a big deal that she saw Richard at a meeting? It's not a secret that he's an alcoholic is it?



And speaking of Richard, not feeling it for his and Ellis' love child, Pierce. So far I can see why Mer finds her annoying and I do too.



I didn't know Geena Davis was going to be on the show. Just one short scene, but gotta think there is going to be more since Arizona decided to study with her.



They sure resolved the D.C. story pretty quickly with Derek deciding not to go.

Time Warner New Channel Line Up and TiVo Channel Guide

I'm in Orange County CA and Time Warner recently reconfigured their channel lineup. However, the TiVo channel guide is still displaying the old line up with the old channel tags and it's reeking havoc on my season passes and recording shows. For example, MLB Extra Innings used to be channels 755-769. Now they're 709-722 but the TiVo guide thinks those channels are still running 30-minute shows. Channel 438, the former HD version of A&E doesn't even exist anymore yet the channel guide says it does. I talked with Time Warner CS and they said it typically takes TiVo "about three days to catch up". Is this true? The changes took effect on 9/24 so, if what TWC told me, the TiVo guide should "catch up" within the next day or two. Yes?

Which TiVo to get

My wife and I made the move from directv to charter and in the process gave up our 6 tuner dvr and went back into the Stone Age with a 2 tuner dvr.



We have decided to look at TiVo and have since decided we only need 4 tuners



That really leaves us with either the roamio or premiere xl4



Have the speed issues been resolved on the premiere? We have an Xbox one on the same tv so we already have Netflix and that other stuff available.

Weird duplicate "Welcome" email

A couple months ago I got the Roamio with lifetime service. I received the welcome email, set up my account on tivo.com, and installed my Roamio. Been enjoying it ever since.



Today, several weeks later, I received a dupicate email: "Welcome to TiVo Roamio: Everything You Need to Get Started".



Anything I need to be concerned about? This seems a little suspicious.

No sound after update

Hmmm, got updated at 2AM to 20.4.4a-01-6-A92, and had no sound upon turning the TV on. Switched the HDMI input to Roku so see if the TV was OK- sound was fine. Switched back to the Mini, and the sound was back. This matches another reported issue (that thread is labeled "no sound from HDMI cable", so I thought it best to make a new thread with more specific info).





Turned the TV off and on, and the sound was there. Will leave it off for a while longer to see if it recurs. Will also switch to my other Mini (getting everything working in my office before deploying them all over the house) to see if it gets the update and exhibits the same behavior. I also have two on the fedex truck coming today, will also see how they behave once updated.



Anyone ever experience this after an update? I'm dreading that it's going to be a recurring thing now and not just a post-update anomaly..

Big Brother Finale - 9/24/14

Not a surprising ending by any means, but a satisfying one. It ended as it should have. Derrick not only played the best game this season by far, but he also played the most perfectly flawless game in the history of the show. The two people who didn't vote for him are going to feel like fools once they watch the season and see how in control of the game Derrick was the entire time. I guess I can understand Jocastsa, because with her it was a religious thing, but what the hell was Donny thinking? Did he feel like Derrick betrayed Team America?



Speaking of Donny, I'm glad he won the $25K. I'm also really happy that Frankie wasn't even in the top three, despite his sister campaigning for him on Twitter.



So did Cody just pull a Colby Donaldson and throw away $450,000? I'm pretty sure he did. He's definitely going to be thinking about that decision for the rest of his life.

Anyway, enjoyed it, looks like an interesting group of characters. I enjoyed Blood vs Water before, so looking forward to this season.

Comcast Bill Question

I had to switch from a TivoHD to a Tivo Roamio Plus and a Tivo Mini due to Comcast switching my area to MPEG-4 next month. I turned in my Comcast STB, and while i was there they removed the HD Technology Fee. 15 days later and i'm still getting HD channels. I'm wondering if i should chance it and call about the $2.50 Customer Owned Equip. Credit, or should i just not be greedy and settle as is.

Set up error - step 2 will not complete.

I have successfully activated my TiVo Stream. (I have a TiVo Roamio)



On my iPad, I launched the setup process for the Stream. Yes, the white light on the back of the Stream box is solid (constant, non-blinking) white. Also, my TiVo app has no pending updates.



Step 1 of the set up process completes. Step 2 fails. TiVo's web trouble shooting advice for this error says to ensure that my TiVo app is at version 2.0.1 or higher. Mine is at 3.3.1



Any ideas on how to fix this error? Fred

South Park Season Premiere (9/24)

The good old Viacom scheduling department has done it again; sent out the wrong data for one of their flagship shows. The South Park season premiere, which was just fine on Monday with the blank synopsis, suddenly had the 'new' flag removed when it got the synopsis in the last day or so, so currently if your season pass is recording new shows...it's not getting this one. Sorry the notice is coming so late, but hopefully this helps someone.



It's 2014; I'd tolerate this from Pivot or a smaller channel, but from a Viacom network? To say I'm tired of working around their unsettled scheduling for DVR's is an understatement.



ETA I happened to do a network update at the same time and once the schedule info came in, the episode had been re-flagged as new. So in the space of a few hours someone at Viacom must've realized their big mistake and rushed TMS to add the 'new' tag.

Fall Update

I just downloaded the fall update, and the message said I can program a season pass up to six months before the program shows up in the Guide. I can't find out where to go in the menus to do this. I want to make a season pass for the new shows Constantine and Cyber. :mad:

Directv and Roamio tivo

I would love to get the programming that directv has locally but I have three TIVO dvr's. A series 2 and series 3 HD and a new 4 channel Roamio with a large hardrive. Can I get Directv and just use their receiver to feed the Roamio and the others or do I have to get the directv DVR version of Tivo?

Lost 10 Year Anniversary

It's been 10 years since the premiere of Lost! My, oh my, how time flies.



I thought this was a good writeup on the greatness that was Lost (and the dreck that has followed it on network TV). It makes me want to go back and re-watch Lost, which I might do. I was waiting until my kids were old enough to watch it with me. They're 9 - not sure that it's the perfect age but maybe close enough. Andy Greenwald says (in the linked article) that he misses Lost like crazy, and I do, too!

We're not heavy TV users. When the kids went off to college, we "cut the cord" and stopped paying $80/month to RCN (our cable company in the DC area) and only used our OTA rooftop antenna and streaming from Netflix and Amazon direct to the Sony TV with its built in Netflix and Amazon apps.



Then, the lack of a "tv guide" and no easy way to record the OTA shows (my wife is hooked on "Scandal") led me to TIVO. esp the articles in August 2014 about the new Roamio OTA box ($50). I could not find the $50 box anywhere so bought the basic Roamio at $169 (Amazon) (there was the Tivo price of $200-50, + 10 shipping = $160, but I went with Amazon for quicker shipping). Articles in CNET and elsewhere said the Roamio OTA had Amazon Instant Video (but not Amazon Prime, I get it.)



So, the box arrived yesterday, and I finally got it hooked up and found the OTA channels. (setup was not easy, but that's another story....) And I got it to recognize my Netflix account. Yay! Two out of three. (OTA and netflix)



Here's the question-- the Tivo Menu has an "amazon instant video" link (next to the Netflix, HuluPlus, YouTube) links, but the Amazon link DOES NOT WORK.



How can they have an Amazon link but it doesn't work-- it brings up a screen about "check back in a few hours, etc...."



Then I found this phrase on Tivo "Regulatory changes made by the FCC on January 1, 2014, made Amazon Instant Video incompatible with Roamio Series DVRs manufactured after that date."

then I found the lame "sticker on the box" covering up the amazon video logo.



REALLY? What's going on?



Is there a workaround ?

(registering via one of the "older" devices on Amazon.com? )

(waiting for the "fall update?" of Tivo software?)

(find a "used" basic Roamio?)

(complain to CNET and other users about incorrect statements in their reviews not mentioning this...)



Otherwise, I'm back to a clumsy approach to watch my content:

1. TIVO -> TV for OTA and Netflix

2. Sony TV itself with its builtin Amazon App for Prime and $rental.

(meaning two remotes, two interfaces, etc... )



grrrr.... I thought Tivo would be the "one box to rule them all" . Especially for the $15/month I'm paying which is basically for the tv guide function.

So am I the only one who checked out the 3rd 3rd spinoff of a criminal procedural in the past decade? I'll admit it-- I watched L&O:CI and CSI:NY, so maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment.



In any case-- I came here looking for a thread to see if anyone else found the intro/exit of every segment to be distractingly quantum leap like. NCIS has the black/white last-scene-first deal, NCIS:LA has the multi-photo quick shoot, and now NCIS:NO has the Scott Bakula leap-in effect. I could even believe that the sound effect is the old quantum leap effect sped up 5x.



I have to believe this was fully intentional (Belisarius does NCIS and also did Quantum Leap), but IMO I really hope this was a one-off nudge nudge wink wink Belisarius/Bakula back together again. At the very least, mix it up and not have *every* segment feature Bakula...



Otherwise it's like..



Trapped in yet another tertiary spin-off, Dwight Pride finds himself leaping from segment to segment, repeating plot points right from every CBS procedural that once went worked well, and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home..........

Best way to connect three Tivo Minis to Roamio Plus

I am hoping to get some advice on the best way to connect a Roamio Plus with 3 Tivo Minis. This will all be a gift to my parents. They're specific situation is this:



- Verizon Fios Service (50 up/50 down) with both coax and cat5 run from the ONT.

- Currently, I have the cat5 going into their router (a Linksys EA6900 router, AC wireless, etc). Then I have a short cat5 run from the Linksys to the Verizon router, which has the coax plugged into it to create a moca network for their Verizon STB.

- The Linksys functions as the primary router and the Verizon Actiontec has been reconfigured simply for Moca duties for the Verizon STB.

- All the rooms where the Roamio and minis will go have coax connections but no ethernet.

- They currently have 1 Verizon STB which will be replaced by the Roamio Plus



So obviously I need to use Moca to connect everything. My questions are:



1. I am somewhat concerned about Moca bandwidth and it needing to serve the Roamio and 3 Minis. Will upgrading the Verizon Actiontec router to the Rev I version (they currently have a rev D version) provide any additional bandwidth? I know the rev I has gigabit ports but will those even be utilized with this current setup? Or will their current Actiontec Rev D router be more than enough to handle the Roamio and 3 minis?



2. Alternatively, I was thinking remove the Actiontec, connect the coax to the Roamio, connect the Roamio's ethernet to a wireless AC bridge, and let the Roamio create it's own Moca network for the 3 minis. Would this work and would there by any advantages or drawbacks to it over the scenario described in #1 above? Would the Moca network created by the Roamio be more robust/faster for handling cable tv vs the Moca network created by the Verizon Actiontec router? I am thinking the only drawback here would be the use of a wireless AC adapter with the Roamio but that would only be a concern if multiple people were streaming Netflix on the Minis for example (right?) as that might put a strain on the internet access that is being mediated by the wireless AC adapter that is connected to the Roamio? Otherwise, if they just stick to watching mainly cable tv on the minis (which are connected over Moca), the wireless AC connection that connects the Roamio to the internet shouldn't be an issue...is that correct?

Season pass recordings stop mid show

1st time Tivo user/subscriber here. So I hope my problem could get corrected soon.



I set up 2 season pass recordings and both recorded fully on the first day (The Voice and Dancing with the Stars). The next day, they began to record the shows again, only The Voice recorded the first 9 minutes of a 2 hour show and Dancing with the Stars recorded 25 minutes of a 1 hour show. Both started at the same time 8:00pm.



I have the basic Roamio DVR. With TWC M-Card and Tuning Adaptor (the Tuning adaptor was on). I only have 1 TV with cable in my house, so the other tuners were not in use anywhere.



I double checked settings on season pass and they are correct. Not sure why both shows started to record and only 9 minutes of one and 25 minutes of the other were recorded.



Has anyone experience this before? This is very frustrating and if recordings aren't reliable I'll be following up on the 30 day guarantee.

Wow, did not realize that was Lucy Lawless until I went to IMDb. It's been awhile since Xena, I guess.



Impressed that they brought in Haley Atwell and Neal McDonough for such small parts. I didn't notice if any other characters from the movies were there. Although, I guess they didn't spend as much time and money on the Agent Carter makeup. I had to look hard to see that it was actually her.



I'm wondering what the Agent Carter series will be like. And about.



Wait, Jemma has left? What the fu? I hope that's only temporary.



When the bad guy started turning into a diamond, I thought they were doing an X-Men cross over. :p

Mini/main DVR tuner usage?

OK, someone please help me to understand how the mini works as far as tuner usage from the main DVR unit. As I've read and understand, the mini takes over one of the tuners from my Roamio, which has six tuners. The leaves five for the main DVR unit's use. So, as I understand it, I could have up to five minis, each with it's own tuner, and still have one tuner left for the main DVR. But I've read that we can have up to eleven minis on a Roamio DVR. How is this possible if it only has six tuners?



What am I missing? I'm certain there is something that I've just misunderstood but I'm really having a hard time making sense of this.

Captioning bad on one channel

I have a Tivo HD with Cox cable service, CableCard and Tuning Adapter. I am hard of hearing and use Closed Captioning.



I have both CC1 and DTVCC1 selected in the Tivo settings.



On one of the channels, TBS HD, the captioning is always messed up - incomplete text, garbled, colored, blinking, spread across the screen, you name it. The other HD channels, and even TBS SD, are okay as far as captioning is concerned.



I had Cox come out to investigate, and the technician is blaming it on the Tivo.



I'm no expert, but I'm no idiot either. I find his assertion difficult to believe. It seems to me that the encoding of the captions on that channel has something wrong, not the decoding in the Tivo.



What do you all think?

Episode "Duration" isn't shown?

So I upgraded from a TiVo HD to a Roamio a couple months ago.



I ran into this last week but just remembered to ask about it...



I was adding an SP for "Survivor" and after I searched for the show, found it. While looking at the season premiere details after selecting it from Upcoming, it occurred to me that the season premiere may be more than the usual hour, but I couldn't tell from the info the Roamio showed if that was true or not.



Here's an example screenshot I found on the web for Modern Family. Notice that there's no episode duration shown. I can't find the episode durations anywhere when on this screen, including using the Info button. It says what time it starts, but there's no clue to when it ends...









Playing around, I noticed that it does show the duration of movies. It appears under the title next to the star rating...







I remember for a fact that it always showed the duration of series episodes on my TiVo HD. Example...







What I ended up doing on my Roamio was after I set the SP, I went to the To Do list, found the premiere there. The duration is shown for items in the To Do list.



Long story short, I guess,... am I missing something here?

Seems odd that I have to actually schedule a show (in order to get it on the To Do list) before I can find out how long it's going to be. I guess another alternative is to go to the Guide an d find an episode there but that's kinda cumbersome to do. Never had to do that on the old HD or my Series 2 before that.

Used Tivo w/lifetime

If I buy a used TIVO with verified lifetime, but not from the original owner, ( so we can't do a transfer)can I just plug and play.

It'll be over the air. I figure I can just rescan and start using.

No burn from tivo desktop

I can,t burn shows from tivo desktop to dvd. I can watch them on the PC but when I go to move the files to the dvd maker it tells me there is nothing on them what am I missing or doing wrong?

Under the Dome - Season 2 Finale 9/22/14

So they basically left us with nothing. No answers about the dome, the egg, the visions, or really anything but more questions.



Big Jim goes nuts, as if he wasn't already, and kills both the science teacher and some other lady. And Junior has no problem shooting daddy now, but not good enough so he'll still be just fine.



I was reading that the show hasn't been renewed yet but speculation is it will be since it was the highest rated summer scripted show on the network and it's making the studio about $2mil per episode factoring in the deals they have with Amazon and such.

Season passes can't be removed

I have three season passes that can't be removed by any means I've tried. I've tried selecting them and hitting Clear but then I select Yes, delete this season pass they just don't go away. I even tried deleting them on TiVo.com but that didn't work either. Thoughts?

Failed to record Bears vs Jets

I tried the new feature they recently launched where you pick your football team by name and your TiVo will find and record the games. It worked for the first two games of the season, but did not work on last nights game.



I checked the season pass entry and it indicated there were no upcoming episodes. This is incorrect. The game was available to me on my local channel 11. I subscribe to basic cable. This package does not include ESPN.



Did this happen to anyone else?

2014-2015 TV Season

My week is looking pretty busy... and I'm not completely sure I've identified all the new shows I'm interesting in checking out.

Sleepy Hollow S02E01 OAD 9/22/2014 (Season 2 Premiere)

OK! That was a pretty fun way to start the season.



One thing I often dislike about shows like this is that they can write themselves into any corner and then just make up a mystical rule to get themselves out. People don't really die, stakes aren't real, etc. The show kind of did that here, but overall I thought it did a good job creating a real cliffhanger to end last season, and then coming up with creative ways that were not enormous cheats to unwind most of it. Katrina is still captive and who knows when we'll see Irving, but the main characters are mobile again.



The main thing I thought didn't work was John Cho's character. He's basically helping Moloch or helping Abbie at the whims of the plot. He's never made a lot of sense.



But good stuff with the other John in the cast, John Noble. He is going to be a lot of fun in this role.



Overall, a good beginning to season two, I thought.

Ota with Pixels

Just got my OTA hooked up last night and am a new cord cutter.



I have an antenna in my attic and when it was hooked directly up to my television, I had either full or near full strength on all of my local channels.



My local fox station recorded a show that had frequent brief pixelation that would last for a second and then go back crystal clear for several seconds to a minute and then do it again.



I checked signal strength on this channel and it was 52%. The only change is the Tivo.



I did online chat with Tivo and the rather uninterested support rep on the chat said that the Tivo tuner wasn't as good as my TV tuner and there was a 30 day return guarantee.



Is drop from nearly full to nearly half signal strength normal? This is unacceptable.

pyTivo remuxing issue

Trying to get remuxing / audio only encode working with pytivo but it still seems to always do a full transcode.



Setup:



Tivo Roamio Pro

Python 2.7.2

pytivo wmcbrine fork from 8/7/14

ffmpeg: have tried multiple versions between 2.1 and latest build

ts = on added in user defined settings and verified in .conf



I have tried all sorts of different mkv files with h264 video and either ac3 audio or dts. It is my understanding that with ts = on it should only reencode the audio .. but instead it seems to be doing a full reencode every time.



What in the way of log files / media info outputs, etc. do I need to provide in order to get this figured out - I know it must be something silly I'm overlooking!

Scorpion "Pilot" (9/22/14) SPOILERS!

Well, I'd love to read the "true story" that this based on.



I'm reasonably sure that the plane to car transfer never took place. For one thing, at 200 MPH, a cable is gonna flap in the wind like a mutha. Not to mention the copilot standing on the gear. pffft.



I don't know how much of the tech talk was BS, but it came so fast, it didn't really matter.



I liked the connection between the head genius and the kid. And the mom is a hottie.



Don't know if they can keep up this kind of pace on a weekly basis.



As a popcorn show, I liked it. Got a good beat, easy to dance to. I give it an 85. And an SP for now.

Gotham - Pilot - OAD 9/22/2014 (Spoilers allowed)

A good start, I thought. I liked all the 'aha' moments and much of the setup.



It took me a few minutes to realize there was more to the Wayne murders than a simple mugging and when it was played through, I was happier with the opening scenes.



Selina Kyle is an interesting character. It will be fun to see how that arc shapes up.



All in all, it's a keeper so far.

Can I pit a usb hub on my premiere?

The reason tivo premiere only has one usb outlet which is taken up by my cable box decoder. Want to use mt tivo slide pro which requires a usb dongle thing.
