I have a Brighthouse DVR, a Tivo Series 2 and I just got a Bolt. Before I deactivate the Series 2, I was hoping there might be a way to get Bolt to receive VOD channels. The way things work now:
- The Series 2 with a converter box will record anything from VOD
- The Bolt doesn't receive any VOD channels
- The BH DVR not only doesn't record VOD but removes the FF function when watching
But if there's no hope for Bolt and VOD . . .
I can remove the cable box output from the Series 2 and replace it with the BH DVR output, then play VOD on DVR and set Series 2 to manually record. I tried it today and it worked fine. Of course I wouldn't want to pay for a subscription just for this, so my question is - would this be possible without a subscription? And for those inclined to jump right into the "I'm stealing from Tivo" rant, please understand that this is the one and only thing I want to use the Series 2 for.
There is a massive amount of contradictory information out there on this. If someone who has actually used a Series 2 without a subscription for more than a month or two would let me know I'd really appreciate it.
