I have 2 working TiVo HDs in my house, and I'm considering replacing one with a TiVo Bolt.
When I called TiVo customer service they were very helpful in mapping out how I can deactivate the TiVo HD just before the annual renewal happens.
But, I was surprised to learn that once I deactivate the older TiVo HD, it can never be reactivated. While I certainly don't have any plans to reactivate it, I sort of thought I'd keep it as a backup in case my other TiVo HD dies. The CSR said something about the older TiVo wouldn't take the software update, etc.
Has anyone else heard this? Does anyone know of a way to get around this? Or is some hard and fast rule that TiVo will not activate Series 3 TiVos any more?
