Any way to test Bolt before activating?

Hi guys,

Finally convinced my parents to drop all of their cable boxes and ridiculous "DVR" service fees for a Bolt and a few Minis.

I picked up an open-box Bolt from Fry's today. Everything looks fine, but is there any way to test all the connections before installing? Not ready to activate the box, as I still have to order the minis, get the CableCard ordered, etc.
