I have a few questions about my TiVo Series 2. I used MFS tools a few years ago to replace my 80GB OEM drive that came with the TiVo with a nice 160GB drive I pulled out of an old PC. It ran for 5 years and I was quite happy with it till it died recently. I do have a spare 250GB IDE drive but I have some questions about the MFS tools. In reading the directions, it mentions:
"Any size IDE drive can be used, however any drive larger than 137gb will be used by TiVo as a 137gb drive, and you can use up to two drives." It does seem counter-productive. I'd like to use just one 250GB drive and really get 3x the storage my OEM drive had. Is there a way around this 137GB drive limitation?
Another part of the directions say: "Also, these instructions are only intended for those who have never upgraded their TiVo or have upgraded it at most one time" What exactly does that mean? I was hoping to use the MFS tools to copy my OEM drive again, or use the backup image I created from my OEM drive to build a new replacement drive. I would think it wouldn't matter how many times I did that.
Well, any information anyone has would be most appreciated.
