First week with TiVo Roamio and an antenna

I bought a TiVo Roamio, Mini and Stream a week ago using a buying service code I got on eBay. (Saved $150 and got the Roamio service for $9.99/month!) I use it with an antenna.



My bill dropped from $150 a month to DirecTV to $33 a month (Roamio, Mini, Netflix and Hulu Plus).



Here are my initial impressions:



DEVICE SPEED



I had a TiVo Premiere for some time before switching to DirecTV and its Genie. The Genie was faster than the Premiere, but now the Roamio beats 'em all. Snappy around menus and when changing channels.



PICTURE QUALITY



Whoa. I've had a TiVo with an antenna before, but this quality blows me away. Even my wife noticed a clearer picture and brighter colors compared to DirecTV. Uncompressed all the way!



ANTENNA



I get 60s on all of the major networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, CW, PBS, etc.) and haven't had any drop-outs. It's amazing that one semi-decent antenna signal can power four TV tuners simultaneously. The antenna, by the way, is a Winegard GS-2200 Amplified Sensar III mounted in my attic.



I'm about 25 miles from the towers in Dallas.



STREAMING SERVICES



I swear my previous TiVo Premiere wasn't nearly as smooth when it came to watching stuff on Netflix or Hulu Plus. The interface is awesome, and Netflix and Hulu are stutter-free at the highest-quality picture setting.



OUT-OF-HOME VIEWING



I bought a TiVo Stream and can watch all my antenna channels anywhere I want. It simply works, and now my Slingbox can find a new home via eBay. In fact, I'm watching on it right now.
