how long before Tivo functions

I got my new Roamio, paired cable card, I can see stations, service is activated, but no TiVo functions work. No guide, multiple tuners, advance, go back, etc. Can't even record a show I am watching.

remote is sporadic, now no buttons work, can't change channels etc



TiVo says could take 24 hours. Is that normal
