I just got off of the phone with Tivo which I dreaded like a root canal. My problem here in El Paso, Texas is that the NBC affiliate and it's sub-channel broadcast on both digital frequency 9 and 16. Tivo only gives guide information for the version on RF 16. Of course, I can scan in the broadcast on RF 9 (which I receive with a more dependable signal) but have to do manual recordings.
The representative kept asking me what kind of antenna I have and telling me that they can not do anything about "hit and miss" over the air reception. I kept trying to explain that this is not a problem with the antenna, I can get both versions as well as could be expected. The problem is no guide information for the version of KTSM on RF 9.
She finally said she would report the matter to Tribune. I am very doubtful that anything will come of it. I became so frustrated with this type of problem during the chaos of the 2009 "digital transition" that I dropped Tivo for many years. It is a shame that Tivo is the best OTA recorder available but they do not train their people in the basics of digital antenna reception.
