I haven't posted before about my trials and tribulations in getting streaming to work from our new Roamio Plus to our new Mini, but the tech support interactions followed a lot of the same patterns others here have observed:
- insistence that my network switch was somehow responsible for the problems (which I strongly suspected was bogus)
- advice that I should use MoCa instead of my house's wired Ethernet (didn't work)
- ignoring my observation that my iPad app complained that the Roamio wasn't set up for streaming, claiming it was unrelated
- insistence that I had to connect the Roamio and Mini directly to the wireless router (didn't help)
- advice to disable and re-enable streaming on the device via TiVo.com (no effect)
Bottom line: the real problem was that my Roamio was missing some module/plugin of streaming software.
They had no explanation for why this was the case.
They set up an "upload authorization" (for some reason this didn't happen automatically), the TiVo picked up the update on the next service connection, and everything then worked fine for streaming to both the Mini and iPad.
