I had posted earlier that one of the tuners (Tuner 1) on my Premiere was going black and getting no signal. A reboot brought back the signal on that tuner but it keeps happening. I contacted Tivo tech support. I replaced the cable card and redid the set-up to add antenna. Problem still occurs with a new card and on over-the-air channels. Tivo finally threw up their hands and said the tuner is bad and offered me a refurbished Premiere for $149 but I have to get a new contract. The "lifetime" contract on my Premiere is only 20 months old. If I have to get a new contract seems like I might as well get a new box (only $50 more).
Here are my options so far:
Get a replacement Premiere.
Get a new Roamio.
Say to hell with Tivo and get a cable company DVR.
Send the Premiere to Weaknees.com and see if they can repair it ($99.99 plus shipping for them to just look at it).
Is there any way to replace the tuner(s)? I replaced the hard drive on my old Tivo3 (which still works). Is a similar DIY replacement possible for the tuner?
I appreciate any ideas and suggestions. Thanks.
