Google Notifications/Cards Really Came Through

Yesterday, Google Notifications or Cards or whatever it is called really came through. My wife had a noon flight. At 9 AM a notification popped up on my smartphone. It looked like a little airplane. I dragged the notification bar down and it showed that her flight was 5 hours late. It picked up this information from the email with her flight information in it. This saved her hours of unnecessary waiting at the airport. When my wife finally showed up for the flight there had been others that had been there since 10 in the morning or earlier with kids, etc. The flight actually took of 6 hours late, but still the advance knowledge saved her considerable aggravation. There were many unhappy passengers on that flight.



Now I always mean to check flight status before I leave for the airport, but more times than not I forget. I suspect I would have forgotten yesterday morning too.



So I think this is a good example of how this intrusion into our private lives can be a good thing.



I guess I could have put this in the things that delight me thread, but I thought this was such a positive that it deserved its own.
