Non-Booting Tivo - out of warranty

I have a Tivo Premiere that will not boot fully. Tivo support confirmed it and offered me a new one, at a discounted rate. My question to the forum community is this: Is there anything else I can do with this device? Even if it never works as a Tivo again, does anyone know of any other uses for a broken Tivo. Can it be repurposed as an HTPC or an XBMC streaming device, for instance? Thank you for your time.
