I posted this in the Tivo Support forums but haven't seen any bites yet. Most of what I'm finding by searching is either several years old or is from last year with the big firmware issue on Moto Ta's. I'm in a fairly recent build out so the lines leading up to me should all still be good. As usual they are insisting on a truck roll but I don't see how that is going to help anything. Are there any obvious troubleshooting steps I might be able to take to try and resolve this issue. Also as aside from what's posted below do I even need a TA if I won't watch those channels? From what little I can find it seems now that Cox only uses SDV on lesser used channels which we won't look at anyways. As it is now though I'm getting very few at all. I'm up for any suggestions you guys might have to offer...

We just connected a new Tivo Roamio on Cox network yesterday and we're hitting some issues. I haven't had Tivo for about 10 years but with Cox increasing their rates yearly we decided to come back as it is getting to be too much. Based on information I found it said to go through the guided setup before connecting the tuning adapter. So that's what we did. We connected the cable card when prompted and called to activate it. They got the card, host, and data ID #'s to activate and pair them. Of course once that was done I couldn't see anything on SDV channels. At that point we unplugged everything and set it back up with the tuning adapter. Because the firmware had to update we started seeing the message about the TA not accepting the security certificate. I knew this was an issue and that the firmware would have to update. It did that within about an hour but now on any of these channels it says the channel is not authorized. I called Cox and they double checked the card and TA and sent new refresh hits to both. I know the TA got it because it reset and went back to a solid light after a few minutes. The Tivo recognize the tuning adapter and it appears to not give any errors, other than saying the channel isn't authorized. It's on every channel over the basic lineup, which I believe with Cox coincides with which channels use SDV, although the tech couldn't really tell me which channels use this. We initially hooked up the tuning adapter with an inline setup going to the TA and from the TA to the Tivo. Cox said not to do this and to use a splitter to go to the Tuning adapter with a MoCa filter, even though we don't use a moca network, and the other split to the Tivo. And then of course connect the USB cable. We got the same result with either setup. It's frustrating because the info from either company seems to contradict the other and it's hard to know which is correct. Is it possible that Tivo thinks these channels aren't authorized because the TA wasn't connected when I went through the initial guided setup? If I run guided setup again, do I need to remove the cable card and wait for it to tell me to put it in or just leave it and run the setup again. I'm really trying to avoid a series of tech visits so any advice that anyone can offer is appreciated. If I can't get it up and running soon I'm going to have to decide between returning the tivo and continuing to get gouged on equipment and service fees from Cox, or keep the tivo and deal with the headaches of going OTA only. |
