A little background:
I have 2 Tivos TCD648250B (lifetime) and a Premier (monthly)
The bedroom Tivo (648) stopped making network connections (hard wired) about a month ago, in another thread I was advised to check the power supply for bad capacitors. They were showing signs of failure, so I figured that was the problem. I have not replaced them yet.
So I swapped the 648 from the bedroom to the living room and brought the living room Premier to the bedroom. This is what puzzles me.
Now the Tivo 648 that would not connect to the network (bedroom) connects when its in the living room, but the Premier from the living room will not connect in the bedroom and gives me the same failure message as the 648.
So it must be a network issue, but I can't figure out what.
The living room network is as follows. 8 port switch (mostly full) goes under house to network closet and plugs into router, which connects to cable modem. Bedroom setup is cat 5 directly to network closet and plugs into the same router as living room setup.
The bedroom is a simpler setup and it's the one that fails
I can ping either Tivo so the connections must be working. But if I try and DHCP from the bedroom it can not find the gateway. I have to use static IP in bedroom
