Good Deal: Excellent Tivo Experience!

I've just concluded an excellent call with the Tivo call center folks somewhere in CO. I'm a longer term DTV/TV customer and have currently installed 3 rehab Premiers 3 years old after leaving DTV for FIOS because of a move.

Using the FIOS onboard Moca, I installed Moca adapters ahead of all the Tivo units to establish the house "network." That's worked well. We took 2 boxes and Mocas to Florida this past winter and hooked them up with Brighthouse tuning adapters and got that all working with help from a guardian angel on this board teaching Brighthouse techs all they never knew about Tivo! Oh yes, we also use the RF on the Peanut remote attaches in our setups. That's a lot of gear to truck around!

Considering the FIOS cable cards (3) plus 3 Tivo monthly payments, I needed to consider alternatives, particularly after some obscene price increase on the Verizon bill (+$25 monthly) this month due to a dropped long term discount I've been receiving for almost 3 years. I can't do OTA or DTV here.

So, called Tivo... and I think I did well, a Romeo Plus for $299 replacing one of my monthly plans, plus one Mini for $149 with "Lifetime." The Pro was still $475, not favorable, and Lifetime $400, also not favorable. I asked about the "alpha remote" and she through that in gratis! So that's $478 replacing a lot of different devices making the Florida repositioning far more simple for me. Brighthouse techs panic when they see lot's of strange boxes....

I have five tv's here in the house, but only two in frequent use. I may add another Mini at some point, but for now, I'm looking at potential savings of $460/annually and a whole lot less wiring!

I've always had great experiences with Tivo and DTV and the Verizon tech installers. Happy customer here!
