looking for free conversion software

I have been using a program called Aunsoft to convert transferred .tivo files to another more popular format (.mp4, .AVI, etc). I am running into a problem with one file (audio is getting stripped) and wondering if I need to try another piece of software.

Are there any other free, good software packages that can convert a .tivo file to a more popular format for easier playback on media players?
