My TiVo's set to the lightest level of power save. Usually I turn on everything with my universal remote and then hit the TiVo button, and all's good. This morning, I accidentally hit a button on my universal remote that's supposed to turn everything on *and* switch to a channel (Food TV, not that it probably matters), which I've not hit since I changed the TiVo to use power saving (I'm vaguely wondering if somehow the channel #s being sent during the awakening could have an effect).
Anyway, it gave that "Waking Up" message and went to a blank screen; I could see little black vertical bars that looked like 4x3 within the 16x9 but nothing else. By the lights, it was responding to inputs.
So I tried power cycling it, pulling the plug and bringing it up. It goes through much of the startup, the "Almost there... just a few minutes more" and then there's that sort of clock face of radial lines with a "Just a moment..." and screen goes blank and it never shows the fun TiVo video.
I had to leave but I was wondering, if it goes to black there, is that where if, say, the TiVo got told to use a different output from HDMI it would play the startup everywhere and then switch there (and then my solution is to find that output and tell it to switch back), or is something else likely wrong?
(and aside, it'd still be under warranty -- are there any authorized repair shops which would keep my shows and Season Passes/etc, assuming it's not the hard drive that's the problem)?
Thanks,
- Rick
