I have two tivo series 1. One has been upgraded and is hooked to my cable box. It operates perfectly. ;) I have resurrected a 2nd tivo series 1 (not upgraded) to hook to a simple digital adapter. It also works fine, but for one irritating issue. No Closed Captioning.
Both Tivo's are set up the same, all settings mirrored. My 'guess' is that the upgraded Tivo has a better video quality pass through than the other.(This unit is also hooked to the Composite Video input on the TV where the other is using RF) I purchased the Upgraded Tivo as is, and do not know what upgrades were done, other than a larger hard drive.
Does anyone know what could cause this, and even more, what can I do to the non-upgraded unit to get CC operational? I'm considering a cache card and an wondering if the additional memory that this would add would be enough to get CC working again.
