Good morning all, long time, happy Tivo user (well, as happy as we can be!) - ran into some problem and could use some advice.
I have a Tivo Roamio 500GB (older version, from when just came out) - I believe I purchased it in late 2014 or early 2015, so it is out of warranty. My Roamio was working perfectly fine up until a few weeks ago when I moved homes. Possible it got damaged in the move, but unlikely as I moved my electronics manually in my car instead of through the moving company.
Ever since the move my Roamio reboots constantly - every once in a while I may be able to watch TV for 30 minutes or so, but then it randomly just starts over. The loading on the initial screens (boxes on top, menu's, etc...) is very, very slow. If I try and do something too quickly while loading such as go to a menu, the guide, anything - it locks up for about 90 seconds and then reboots. It is pretty unbearable at this point - so I am looking for some advice on what to do next.
Some notes on what I have tried:
- Got two new cablecards, just in case - no change.
- Kickstart 57, 54, 58, 52 - No errors detected on disk, it did give me a GSOD for about 5 minutes and then rebooted fine.
- If I try and go into the network settings menu I get - "Your request could not be processed because the DVR was unable to load required data Please try again. (Error 126)"
- With Ethernet unplugged Roamio consistently reboots without ever getting to the main menu, so I can not get to guided setup or change to wireless. (I read somewhere to try unplugging ethernet). I did manage once to get to guided setup, unplug ethernet, and try to add my wireless - but it locked up again and rebooted.
- I made sure it is plugged directly into the wall, no splitters.
- I haven't checked cable signal, not sure what to look for there.
I am at a loss on what to try next - I think I have done all the troubleshooting I can find. I figure it is either the HDD, Power Supply, or maybe Ethernet. Since it is out of warranty not sure if I should try to repair it or cut my losses and go to a new Bolt.
Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks!
Anthony
