Show *All* Threads

When selecting "Watched Threads" or "New Posts" is there anyway to show all of the threads regardless if we have viewed all the posts in a thread? Lots of times I have read a thread, gone to a different thread, and then want to come back to the first thread. If there have been no new posts the thread doesn't show up when selecting those categories.

I think that is a big negative. Is this an option or is that just the way the forum software works? Is there anyway to change it?
