Will TiVo transfer Lifetime?

So does anyone know if Tivo would transfer the lifetime from a box bought via their $99 2nd time lifetime offer?

In the 30day window of an activated box they allow Lifetime to be transferred.

So if someone bought a box they didn't want, you think you could acquire the correct box and then just have TiVo transfer the lifetime before the 30 day mark?

What would happen if you then returned the box you took service from? If you mail the box back it should no longer be related to the Lifetime...
