I have a Series 2 (basic service) Toshiba SD-400 standalone TIVO unit with a lifetime subscription. I, like many others, wish very much to get rid of my land line phone service. I do not have a router network but do have a Hot Spot or MIFI unit that I use to get onto the internet on my computer and tablet. If I am only interested in updating my program listing so I can record easily and see what is on, can I use the TIVO G wireless adapter with this hot spot unit to update my program listing (hopefully automatically but if I have to then manually)? My hot spot is a standalone device (not a phone) and is plugged permanently into an electrical outlet and is always "on".
If the answer is "yes" I can use my hot spot, is there any trick to it or do I just follow the instructions that come with the wireless adapter? And if the answer is "no" what is another simple solution to my problem? Thank you very much.
