Has TiVo ever considered merging boxes on the software level?

The way I envision it is an option that pops up when you have two or more TiVos on the same network. Basically it would ask if you wanted to merge the TiVo with any others and then they would function as one box. One onepass manager, one list. The TiVo would intelligently assign the recording to either box on its own to avoid conflicts and best manage HD space. For instance, if I have 4 TB in my Roamio and 320 GB in my Premiere, so it would intelligently record everything to the Roamio unless it had a conflict and then it would send it to the Premiere. Maybe it would do something simpler like just assign each recording to the HD with a higher percentage of its space remaining. That would be for TiVo to decide. Either way, it wouldn't matter because the boxes would share the same list.

I don't think this would have any copy or DRM problems. All it would be doing is fancying up the streaming feature that already works for the box. This way the dedicated TiVo customer could add tuners and HD space by buying more hardware. How great would it be if two six tuner Roamios could function as one twelve tuner system with 6 GBs of space? Seems like a win/win to me.
