I haven't owned a TiVo in many, many years, but one just dropped into my lap (figuratively). It was owned by someone who was moving out of the country, and he told the person who gave it to me that he thinks the hard drive is bad. I don't yet have a way to talk to the owner - he's busy moving - but hopefully when things settle down I can do so.
I don't know if it has a lifetime subscription or not. I haven't yet confirmed the drive is bad, but I'm assuming it is.
So if it is, and I get the drive replaced (I haven't searched yet but I'm assuming there's a known way of doing this) - do I need the previous owner to do anything to allow me to get it registered in my name?
