Roamio OTA + WD30EURS = Stuck on "Starting Up"

Brand new Roamio OTA, completed Guided Setup with software update with the stock drive, replaced it with a 3TB WD30EURS and now the unit never gets beyond "Welcome, Starting Up".



By any chance, could it take more than an hour to prepare the drive? Or do I just have a bad drive? (BTW, I don't have any means of directly connecting the disk to a PC to do any verification, erasing, or formatting.)
