I got my series 2 to work with the x1 platform box.
I finally got a hd tv a few weeks ago and the x1 non dvr box. Long story short I also hooked up the tivo through the av ports and ran a cable into my bedroom so I can have tv in the bedroom without getting another box at $9.99 or god forbid a comcast dvr.The tivo remote will change the channel no problem on the x1 and record as needed. This setup is mostly for the bedroom although it works on my lr tv also if I want, via a splitter that I set up.. Probably stick to x1 though for hd in the lr.
This is temporary until I can buy a new tivo and mini. But I can't believe their is still difficulty in setting up cable cards. This is why I did not get one years ago and just kept using my series 2.
Funny thing my series one remote will bounce off walls and work from the bedroom to tivo in living room, but my series 2 remote will not.
