I currently have Xfinity cable with Xfinity-supplied STBs on two TVs. I hope to replace the Xfinity STBs with a Roamio Plus and a Mini, which I ordered from Tivo.
Today I stopped at the Xfinity service center and picked up a Cablecard, which was given to me at no charge. After arriving back home, I received an email "confirming the changes" to my account, specifically an additional $9.95 additional outlet fee. There was no mention of any such charge at the service center.
Am I correct in assuming that this charge will be removed once I return the Xfinity STBs? I was actually looking forward to a reduction in the Xfinity monthly bill by converting to Tivo. Their website mentions a $2.50 credit for "customer owned equipment" and some sources say that a Tivo Mini does not incur the $9.95 additional outlet fee (as does the Xfinity STB on my second TV now does). Is that correct?
