I have been out of the Tivo community for a while and just cleaning out the garage I listed my Pioneer Elite DVR-57H on eBay. Someone just sent me a message on eBay asking if the unit can still be activated. Well I never thought that could have been an issue and sure enough it cannot. (Why would they turn away all that money?) I did not purchase lifetime for it and it hasn't been active in a long time.
Anyway, I find it odd that someone just sold the same model for $400 a couple days ago (NIB). I am wondering if there is something else you can use the device for without the Tivo service?
DVD player is the only thing I can think of. (and an old one that won't play BluRay of course)
Can you record content from an external source on the DVD recorder?
